Start, Expand, Breakout! The 22nd STI National Youth Convention

     STI students are all excited to this year's' National Youth

Convention (NYC), themed "Soaring high with 21st century skills."

It is held on The Monochrome in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on

February 8,2017. With over 25,000 students nationwide,

STI provides learning places around cities, to teach students

about updates of the reality. So buckle up students because

we are ready for lift off.

     The first speaker Mr. Arun Gogna, engineering graduate of

De la Salle University, also a pastor who gave tackled 5Cs for

creating identities: Clarity, Competence, Courage, Coaching and

Character. A wonderful lesson that he taught,"Character starts

with you. Success starts with you, but it should never be about

you." Telling every student that biggest dreams are dreams you cannot achieve by yourself. The second speaker, Carelle Mangaliag, a graduate of Ateneo De Manila University and President of Trainstation company. "Kung mapilit ka, may maabot ka," she said. She teach students to learn from mistake, even though you are not intelligent as long as you have courage you can reach your dreams and goals. She also shared and explained epistemology of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). The last speaker David Tapang, education lead, works for Microsoft Philippines. He gives trivia and knowledge about earth and outer space. Bringing students beyond earth and question science. Sir Tapang’s message is for students to question everything.

    National Youth Convention (NYC) is annual STI student convention that goes to every cities in the Philippines to educate students, about the real world visions, what they about to encounter outside the school. NYC aims to (Sir Renato A. Isip, Deputy School Administrator of STI Calamba) :
1. Provide an avenue for the students to absorb supplemental learning that can generate awareness and interest;
2. Introduce to students the expected life skills essential for productivity and competitiveness in the job market; and
3. Develop the four STI Characteristics to help students succeed in their careers.

 

    This event is a good venue for students to learn. The advocacy of STI “Education for real life” is truly being supported having the NYC.  With the experienced speakers, they share life-longing lesson to students which is beneficial especially when they come out to school and start their career.
