What is your stand regarding third gender?

   Juaymae Colaway

Many people are subjected to discrimination, but some who suffer most are persons belonging to "third gender." It is someone who possess an opposite of his/her sexual orientation/culture. Neither a man nor woman. Specifically, a man who possess femininity; called as "bakla" or "gay", a woman who has quality of masculinity; called as "tomboy" or "lesbian".

As the widespread of this culture, discrimination subjected to them spread too. Sooner, groups such like LGBT (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgenders), LAGABLAB () and many others with commonalities are formed.

Year 2000 when Anti-Discrimination Bill was filed by Santiago and Akbayan Representative Eta Rosales. However this law protecting LGBTs remain elusive. Sadly bullying, discriminating cases still continues... One of crime related incident is the murder of Jennifer Laude last October 2014. Other crimes still exist somewhere while victims suffer.

Criminal law against homosexuality  pertains to homosexual acts done in public places may fall under 'grave scandal,' penalizes by Article 200 of the Revised Penal Code.
While the military end the boundary of gay serving in the military. Now discrimination is highly not tolerated among ranks. But  they have to live a code of ethics and observe decorum to remain inside the military.
Sexual orientation is not included in civil rights code and thus LGBT persons have no legal recourse when they are victim of public and private sector discrimination whether at school, in the workplace, or health care settings. (Info from scribd)

Church oppose the acceptance of "third gender" but is said to respect each people, it is not an exclusive right for the third gender rather this is the right of everyone as a human.

As a citizen let just think of what can we don to help them. Even if you are against or not, I think it is just right for you to respect them not because of gender, but because they are also humans. We have our own conscience, no matter what gender, if you we do wrong only we our own selves are responsible to our actions.

Respect others so that they'll respect you also. We have our right as a person, and that doesn't exclude anyone just because of gender. Even if anti-discrimination law is still a bill, that doesn't let other people to degrade LGBTs. We have our natural rights, and this right cannot be dissolved or extinguished by any law.
