Filipino title holders of Miss Universe

Since the 65th Miss Universe was held here in the Philippines last January 30, 2016 and our very own Ms. Maxine Medina made it to the top 6 finalists. We will take a look back on the title holders of Miss Universe from the Philippines. Do you know who these beautiful ladies are? Three beautiful Filipinas were confidently beautiful and proud to represent their own country, Philippines. Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach are every Filipinos pride.
Miss Universe is an annual beauty pageant with different countries to represent beauty and to help the world and do their obligation as Miss Universe. It is the most popular pageant all over the world, watched by half a billion people.
The first Filipino title holder is Ms. Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz. She joined at the age of 18 years old in the 18th Miss Universe pageant held at Florida, USA. The judges loved her because of her good personality and she answered directly with confidence. She is also the crowd’s favorite beating the other 60 contestants from different country all over the world. Filipinos are very proud of her because she brings home the Miss Universe crown in 1969.

The question asked to her was “In the next day or so, a man will land on the moon. If the man from the moon landed in your hometown, what would you do to entertain him?”
Gloria Diaz answered intelligently saying, “Just the same things I do. I think if he has been on the moon for so long. I think when he comes over he wants to change, I guess.”
She made everyone proud.
The second Filipino title holder is Ms. Universe 1973 Margarita Moran. It is the 22nd Miss Universe pageant when she joined in this prestigious event and she’s at the age of 19. Aside from winning the Miss Universe 1973, she also awarded as the “Most Photogenic” and it is held at Athens, Greece. She is also a dancer and busy on the acts of Ballet Philippines. She is known to her advocacy for spreading peace in Mindanao. Every Filipino are very proud and inspired to her.
The question asked to her was “If you had one million dollars, what would you do with it?”
She answered “I would buy a big house where I can live with all the people I love”.
This answer touches everyone’s heart and loved her more.

The newest title holder from the Philippines is Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach. She was crowned on the 64th pageant as the Miss Universe 2015. It was held at Las Vegas, Nevada on December 2015 hosted by Steve Harvey. She is the most popular Miss Universe. Why? Because Steve Harvey announced the Miss Universe title to the wrong contestant then the Filipino community started to react happily, jumping and shouting loud. Pia Wurtzbach was all over the news worldwide and she made another history for Filipinos to be proud. She made her best and a confidently beautiful with a heart that’s why she takes home the Miss Universe crown 2015.
The first question asked to her was “Earlier this year, there was a controversy in Philippines about the United States reopening a base in your country. Do you think the United States should have a military presence in your country?"
She answered “I think that the United States and the Philippines have always had a good relationship with each other. We were colonized by the Americans and we have their culture and our traditions even up to this day and I think that we're very welcoming with the Americans. And I don't see any problem with that at all.”
The second question was “Why should you be the next Miss Universe?”
She answered “To be Miss Universe is both an honor and a responsibility. If I would be Miss Universe I would use my voice to influence the youth and raise awareness to causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country, the Philippines. I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart."
Her answers came from her heart and made every Filipino proud and happy because she is perfect and intelligent. She still thinks her co-Filipinos and wants to make a change in her own country. She is truly confidently beautiful with a heart and the real Miss Universe.
